Protein and Healthy Bones

Proteins are found in every cell, tissue, and organ in our bodies. Since they are constantly being broken down and replaced, it is important to make sure you are getting your recommended dietary allowance for protein.

So how much protein do you need? Here are the recommended dietary allowances for different age groups from the CDC:

  • Children ages 1-3: 13 grams/day
  • Children ages 4-8: 19 grams/day
  • Children ages 9-13: 34 grams/day
  • Girls ages 14-18: 46 grams/day
  • Boys ages 14-18: 52 grams/day
  • Women ages 19-70+: 46 grams/day
  • Men ages 19-70+: 56 grams/day
